Search underway for missing Thane cop, Navy to assist

Late on Thursday night, a police constable fell into a creek in Thane and is yet to be found. Police said the incident took place around 3 am on Friday in the Ghodbunder creek.

Search operations involving the Thane police and the fire brigade are underway for the missing constable, Bharat Rawte. The Navy will also join the operations on Saturday morning.

Police said that Rawte, who was attached with Kasarvadavli police, was on sick leave and was due to join work on October 24.

“Rawte along with his friends went to Gaimukh near Ghodbunder creek where Rawte slipped and fell into the creek. His body has still not surfaced, only an incident report has been filed at Kasarvadavli police station,” said a police officer.
