Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the ‘physical and mental toll’ on commuters due to the toll tax.

In his letter, sent to Fadnavis on February 20, Sachin expressed his concern about the ‘state of affairs concerning the operations of toll gates’ around Mumbai. The letter, written on his Rajya Sabha letterhead, said: “I would sincerely request you to kindly reconsider the model of operations to reduce the physical and mental toll on citizens who travel in and out of Mumbai.” He added that the government should see to it that commuters are not inconvenienced.

Meanwhile, reacting to Sachin’s letter, public works minister Chandrakant Patil told reporters in Mumbai on Friday that the government had taken note of Sachin’s views and was working to provide relief to commuters.
