Kolhapur makes a point
Participants from Kolhapur brought the most recent controversy in their town to Mumbai. They held banners seeking road toll posts to be scrapped in Kolhapur. Last week,all political parties in Kolhapur,including the Congress and the NCP,had called for a bandh against road toll collection centres being set up in the city.
dream Run to drive safe
Sixty students of the Rotaract Club of HR College in association with the Mumbai Traffic Police ran the Dream Run to promote Road Safety. There were some catchy slogans like Its better late than to be remembered. There were posters against driving drunk. With increasing drunken driving deaths and other road mishaps,we want the youth to act more responsibly and follow basic traffic safety rules, said HR Rotaract Club member Dinesh Sajnani.
There were many for whom the marathon was a platform to test their fitness. 24-year-old investment banker Anchit Desai said,I have run the marathon earlier but this year,fitness was the main reason for running, said Desai who has been training for the past three months. Akshay Chuttar,a 24-year-old engineer said he had fitness on his mind while running the half marathon this year. Last year I had participated in the Dream Run. Half marathon was a natural next step. This was the best way to check my fitness level, he said.
