Maharashtra leader Jitendra Awhad is seeing an RSS strategy in Hardik Patel’s agitation demanding reservation for his community. Awhad, an Other Backward Community (OBC) leader, claims the agitation is a part of a strategy of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to do away with reservations in the country.
“Hardik is demanding reservations for Patels and claims if they don’t get it reservations should be cancelled. He is being propped up by the RSS, which is keen to do away with reservations in the country. His agitation is a precursor to an anti-reservation campaign being planned in the country,” Awhad, an OBC leader and NCP MLA, said.
Awhad said such agitations could lead to a class conflict in the country.
“This is an anti-reservation agitation in the garb of seeking reservations for Patels. They want to take away the rights of classes that have been downtrodden and subjugated for centuries,” Awhad added.
He claimed that unlike other agitations demanding preferential treatment for a group, Hardik was calling for abolishing reservations if his demand is not met.
“It is the agenda of the RSS to do away with reservations in the country. Patel is being propped up and manipulated by them,” Awhad said.
He said that a socio-economic census of all the communities in the country is needed to give a true picture of vulnerable groups in our society.
