Kai Po Che! and 2 States, the two films based on books by Chetan Bhagat, have given Rajkummar Rao and Arjun Kapoor, respectively, the biggest hits of their careers. Rao — who was previously considered to play the protagonist in the cinematic adaptation of Bhagat’s last novel Revolution 2020 — is set to be replaced by Arjun Kapoor. Rao, high from his National Award win for Shahid, has lately been bagging a number of major projects but, in an industry where you are as good as your last Friday, the mixed response to his last release Citylights may have worked against him. Kapoor, on the other hand, had just had his career’s first bona fide hit with 2 States, which grossed over Rs 100 crore. According to sources, Revolution 2020 is a big-budget project and the makers — director Raj Kumar Gupta and producer UTV Motion Pictures — are looking for a star-actor to make it more commercially viable. UTV is in talks with Kapoor.
