For the third consecutive year,a portion of a road on Dr Ambedkar Road near Dadar TT flyover sunk in,on Friday morning causing traffic chaos. The road crater was created when a small chamber of the storm water drain collapsed beneath the paverblocks. This caused the road to sink in,creating a 7 to 8- inch long and 1.5 meter deep crater. said L S Vhatkar,Deputy Municipal Commissioner and Chief Engineer of the Storm Water Drain Department. Since the crater was deep and dangerous for traffic,we have placed a metal plate. Work could not be carried out immediately as it would affect the traffic flow. We will finish the repairs tonight, said the engineer.
