Reliance Communications (RCom) has moved Bombay High Court (HC) challenging alleged demolition of its two cellphone towers by Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) earlier this week. Sources said UMC issued a notice to RCom in the second week of June accusing it of setting up 23 such towers atop buildings in Ulhasnagar without seeking permission of occupants.

RCom replied that it had obtained necessary sanctions from the corporation and norms did not require it to seek permission of buildings or their occupants.

It also said the buildings in question were not owned by cooperative housing societies but were standalone structures.

On June 21,RCom filed a writ in HC challenging the UMC notice. A division bench is likely to hear the petition on July 4.
