Rail-roko after train delay affects CR services

According to CR officials, Central Railways had blocked the rail line at 3.35 am to rectify problem in the over-head equipment between Khadvli and Atgaon stations.

Service were affected on the main line of the Central Railway in the morning peak hours after commuters at Titwala station staged a rail-roko against the delay of an early morning local. Commuters jumped on to the tracks at the station and protested for two hours as a result of which services were suspended in both up and down directions.

According to CR officials, Central Railways had blocked the rail line at 3.35 am to rectify problem in the over-head equipment between Khadvli and Atgaon stations. The work was scheduled to be completed by 4.40 am but it got over at 5.56 am which delayed the suburban local and irked commuters. There were a total of 40 trains cancelled, nine partially cancelled and 70 services were delayed.

“Public agitation started at Titwala since 6 am and continued till 8.55 am. One express train and six down and four up locals were held up,” said a CR official.
