To protest the arrest of Nanded-based radiologist Dr Gopal Battalwar for allegedly conducting a sex determination test,around 2,500 radiologists in the city will keep their centres shut Wednesday. “All the private practitioners will join the strike. We also have support from a few radiologists in the public sector,” said Dr Jignesh Thakker,secretary of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association.

Woman’s body found in house,husband held

Police have arrested a man who allegedly locked his ailing wife in their Nalasopara residence and left for New Delhi two months ago. The decomposed body of the 33-year-old woman was found Monday night. Police said Kiran Rai was seriously ill when her husband Rakesh left her. She was so feeble that she could not even raise an alarm and eventually died of hunger,police said.

Worker injured in acid attack

A 26-year-old worker in a steel factory in Bhayander was injured after a colleague allegedly flung acid on him Tuesday evening,a day after they had a scuffle. The victim,Rajkumar Harijan (26),has been admitted to Sai Baba Hospital in Bhayander with severe burn injuries.
