The general manager of a private firm was held on Friday for allegedly abusing a woman constable. Police said the accused, Pravin Gupta (39), was travelling in an autorickshaw on Thursday and got into an argument with the driver over the fare. Gupta then called the Mumbai Police Helpline. “A woman constable told him that the police could not intervene. Gupta abused her,” Dhananjay Kulkarni, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said. An offence was registered at Azad Maidan police station. “He was produced in court on Saturday and granted bail,” he said.
