Kalyan railway police will examine the answer book of Nitin Padalkar,a second year Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering student at Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT),Nerul,who allegedly committed suicide on May 10.
Nitin,19,allegedly flung himself into the path of a train near Vithalwadi railway station on May 9,hours after leaving his Kalyan residence. Earlier that day,Nitin had appeared for his maths IV paper.
An alleged suicide note found in Nitins pocket said his classmates Pradeep Paikrao and Gaurav Madhvi had harassed him for not helping them cheat during an earlier exam.
We have asked the college to provide us answer-books of the maths IV paper of Nitin,Pradeep and a few other students. We are awaiting the colleges inquiry report to take action, said senior inspector Arun Jagtap.
The college,however,said it could not provide the answer-books without the consent of Mumbai University.
I have written to Mumbai University in this regard but havent received a reply, said D N Patil,principal,RAIT.
We havent received the letter yet. The answer-books cannot be provided before assessment, said Prof Naresh Chandra,Pro-Vice Chancellor,Mumbai University.
Nitins body was found on the railway tracks on May 10 by railway employees.
Police also found a SIM card but have not recovered his cellphone. According to his family,he had been disturbed on May 9 after his exam and had refused dinner.
He had also not eaten the next day and left home at 6 pm,telling his mother he was going to meet friends.
Police said Nitin had last spoken to his sister Seema on Friday around 8 pm on May 10 when she called to ask why he hadnt returned home.
