Phatak,Tiwari custody extended till April 17

A special CBI court on Thursday extended the custody of two key accused in Adarsh scam,Jairaj Phatak and Ramanand Tiwari.

A special CBI court on Thursday extended the custody of two key accused in Adarsh scam,Jairaj Phatak and Ramanand Tiwari. They were arrested by the CBI on April 3 and will remain in its custody till April 17.

The CBI in its remand application claimed that Phatak and Tiwari,former BMC commissioner and principal secretary to the urban development department respectively,had allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with another arrested accused R C Thakur and got a plot on the Backbay reclamation at Colaba allotted in favour of Adarsh society.

Family members of Phatak and Tiwari own flats in the infamous society reserved for Kargil war widows and their relatives.

CBI counsel Bharat Badami on Thursday told the court that both the accused have not cooperated with the investigating officers and further custody was essential to establish their links in the scam.
