Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar Wednesday played a good samaritan by helping accident victims near Umred about 50 km from here when he was proceeding to Gadchiroli for a party programme. Pawar arrived here in the morning and proceeded straight for Gadchiroli.

“Along the way, he noticed that a car had met with an accident between Umred and Bhivapur towns. It had been hit by a tipper. He asked his driver to stop the car and disembarked to help the three injured victims in the car. The other cars in the caravan also stopped with his party workers also rushing to help. The local police also reached the spot and the three victims were taken out of the ill-fated car. They had fortunately got away with only bruises. They were later rushed to the Bhivapur Primary Health Centre from where they were discharged after treatment,” said Nagpur (Rural) Superintendent of Police Shailesh Balkawde.  After about 20 minutes, Pawar left for his onward journey to .
