The family of a 16-year-old student of NM College who was found dead on the college premises in Vile Parle last week have written to the police saying they suspect foul play.

The Juhu police have, however, filed an accidental death report as per procedure in cases of suicide. Officers said investigations so far had not revealed anything to suggest that the student was pushed or forced to jump off the building.

Prasad Bagadia,a Class XII student, apparently jumped off the third floor of the college building.

“We have requested the investigating officers to consider possible scenarios such as somebody calling Prasad to the third floor on some pretext and pushing him. After considering these possibilities if it is still considered a suicide, then it could be because of a professor who had insulted him on several occasions,” alleged Rajnikant Bagadia, the deceased’s father.

Prasad’s brother Janak also alleged that a professor had harassed and abused the deceased in class.

The professor had also rejected assignments submitted by Prasad and had asked for them to be redone,Janak alleged.

Senior inspector Arun Bhagt said a probe was on. The college authorities were unavailable for comment.
