Vijay Palande, accused of three murders including that of Arunkumar Tikku and aspiring film-producer Karan Kakad, was on Tuesday sent for mandatory medical tests before he is subjected to narco-analysis.
Mumbai Police crime branch officers investigating the third murder case took Palande and his accomplice Dhananjay Shinde to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) in Kalina at 11 am on Tuesday. Palande was later sent to to Bhabha Hospital for medical tests. Forensic experts conducted introductions with Palande and made him aware of the tests and the procedures. He will be called on Wednesday again, said a police officer.
Palande was taken to the Bhabha Hospital for a medical check up which has to be conducted before the polygraph test, brain mapping test and narco-analysis test. On Wednesday,a medical test will be done again, after which Palande will be taken for the polygraph test, said a police officer from the Mumbai crime branch.
On Thursday, brain mapping test will be done, while the narco-analysis can also be done during the jail custody,as the police custody will get over on Thursday, added the officer. He said only after Palandes tests would Shinde be subjected to the narco-analysis.
A few months ago, after the arrest of the duo, police recovered the skull of an unidentified man at Kumbharli Ghat near Chiplun. While the two accused have claimed that the skull is Kakads, the DNA reports do not match the samples taken form the latters family members.
The crime branch last Wednesday obtained permission to carry out narco-analysis tests on Palande and Shinde to ascertain the identity of the third victim. Over the weekend, police officers prepared the questionnaire for the narco-analysis.
