It was Sudhakar’s 28th birthday and he had left home on Wednesday morning to party with friends. When he did not return at night, his parents thought he was with friends. They did not know that their son’s lifeless body was lying near the entrance of their adjacent building.

The police said they found Sudhakar’s cellphone in his pocket. The police are now trying to trace the people Sudhakar spoke to. “He made the last outgoing call at 12.09 am. He had made a call to one ‘Mac’ at 11.07 pm and also received a call from the same number at 11.10 pm. We are trying to trace this ‘Mac’,” said Shinde. He added the CCTV recordings of the area show Sudhakar at the Amul ice-cream centre at Kandivali east around 10 pm on Wednesday. He was last seen by the watchman of his building when he entered the building. The watchman reportedly told the police that he did not see anybody accompanying Sudhakar. “We will record the statements of the watchman and the two detained persons,” said Shinde.
