The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and and the regional Quick Response Teams were rushed to the spots. The drills covered some schools and malls.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said,“Operation Mumbai Kavach will continue at least till the end of Thursday. All necessary precautions have been taken to ensure maximum security.”

The railway police conducted a similar drill at Sewree station Wednesday evening.

Mantralaya has also been declared a no-flying zone, and relevant instructions have been conveyed to the DGCA. Para-gliders,micro-copters and remote operated flying devices are prohibited from flying over the Mantralaya on Thursday. “There have been instances of aerial terrorist strike in other countries and we have taken this decision as a preemptive measure,” said Singh.
