The Anti-Corruption Bureau nabbed two police constables Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe in return for a favour to the complainant. The agency laid a trap and arrested Jitendra Dharve (46), head constable with the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, and Mahadev Rane, a police naik, after they allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe and were accepting Rs 10,000.

The complainant had been acquitted in a case and the accused, working at the Esplanade court, demanded the bribe amount to ensure that the police did not file an appeal against the acquittal in the higher court.
