The D N Nagar police on Saturday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife and their two-year-old son after suspecting her to be in an affair.

Accused Laxman Dhangar had married thrice. Parvati, the deceased, was his second wife.

According to the police, Laxman had registered a missing person’s complaint with the same police station on August 8, claiming that on August 6 he last saw his wife and son Aqueel who had gone missing.

On Friday, the police found the decomposed body of a woman in a compound near Andheri’s Juhu Gully. The police then began calling all those who had lodged complaints about a missing woman.

Dhangar, too, was called and he identified the body as that of his wife’s.

“We started interrogating him and he started giving different version of events on how his wife had gone missing. Eventually when we pointed out the discrepancies, he broke down and confessed to the crime,” an officer from D N Nagar police station said.

The police said Dhangar confessed to killing her as he suspected she was having an affair.

He later confessed to killing his son and took investigators to the drain where he had dumped his body which was retrieved.

An officer said Laxman had married Parvati and another woman in Karnataka earlier and he recently married again after shifting to the city.
