A 23-year-old man was arrested on Friday after allegedly strangling his business partner to death in a hotel in Kalachowkie. The accused, Irshad Qureshi, runs a garment manufacturing business in Grant Road, which was in partnership with the deceased woman, Shehnaz Shaikh (28). The police said Shaikh was married and she was involved in an extramarital affair with Qureshi. An officer from Kalchowkie police station said Shaikh had warned Qureshi, asking him to maintain a strictly professional relationship with her in office, as she was afraid that her husband would find out about their affair.

“The accused was not happy about the share of profits and demanded an increase,” said the officer. On Friday, Shaikh and Qureshi checked into a hotel in Kalachowkie in an attempt to iron out their differences. But they had an argument and Shaikh allegedly threatened to strangle Qureshi with her dupatta. “This enraged Qureshi, who grabbed the dupatta and throttled Shaikh with it,” said the officer. Qureshi then called up the control room and confessed to the crime, said police.
