Mumbai: 22-year-old held for ‘barging into woman’s home, molesting her’

The police said that the woman (26), who works at a beauty parlour, had observed for the last two days that someone had been peeping into her home through the balcony window.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in Kalbadevi on Saturday for allegedly barging into a woman’s home and molesting her. The incident took place at 10.30 pm Saturday when the man, who stays on the same floor of a building in Kalbadevi as the woman, forcibly entered her home, the police said.

The police added that the accused, Netra Bahadur Thapa, entered the woman’s home through a window in the shared balcony. “As soon as he came in and tried to force himself upon her, the woman raised an alarm and alerted other neighbours and people playing garba below. They caught the man,” said an officer at L T Marg police station.

The police said that Thapa, who was under the influence of alcohol, was booked with outraging a woman’s modesty and produced in court on Sunday, where he was remanded to judicial custody. The police said that the woman (26), who works at a beauty parlour, had observed for the last two days that someone had been peeping into her home through the balcony window.
