The Chandrapur police continued to recover live cartridges from the waters of Ramala lake in Chandrapur, with over 800 of them being taken out of the slushy extension of the lake on Thursday.

The number of cartridges recovered since Tuesday has crossed 1,500.

As reported earlier, similar recoveries have been made from the same lake since 2006 and till date over 3,500 of live cartridges have been recovered.

There is speculation is  that Naxals may have dumped them. But the police doubt the theory as the Naxals need ammunition and it is unlikely they would dump them, unless, of course, they had to, under perception that the police might be closing in on them while in transit.
