IAS officer Radheshyam Mopalwar, the sacked vice-chairman and managing director of Maharashtra State Roads Development Corporation over corruption charges, was allegedly threatened last week by fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari, who asked to be paid Rs 7 crore and demanded that the extortion case against Satish Mangle be withdrawn. The Thane police said Pujari made two phone calls to Mopalwar on November 12.

The Anti Extortion Cell of the Thane police had arrested private detective Mangle and his wife Shraddha two weeks ago for demanding money from Mopalwar to withdraw all charges of corruption he had filed against him.
“We are probing Mangle’s links with Pujari,” said a senior officer. The police have filed a MCOCA case against Pujari.
