Mob runs riot after Sena leader’s murder

The slain Sena leader and the alleged assailants had earlier filed cross-complaints against each other.

Tension prevailed in the eastern part of the city Friday night and Saturday, following murder of a woman leader of Shiv Sena in Lalganj area. Three assailants attacked Aarti Borkar, former chief of Shiv Sena’s central Nagpur unit, and her husband Anil with sharp weapons on Friday night. While Aarti succumbed to injuries, Anil is in critical condition.

As the news spread, angry mobs ransacked properties of the alleged assailants, pelted stones and damaged vehicles, forcing police to step up deployment in the affected parts.

Police have registered a case of murder and are probing. The slain Sena leader and the alleged assailants had earlier filed cross-complaints against each other.
