Minor killed,2 hurt in Juhu hit-and-run

A 16-YEAR-OLD pillion rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Juhu on Tuesday while two of his friends were injured,police said.

A 16-YEAR-OLD pillion rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Juhu on Tuesday while two of his friends were injured,police said.

Juhu police said the accident took place around 10 pm when the trio were going towards Juhu beach on a motorcycle. The deceased has been identified as Yusub Ayub Khan,who resided at Garin Majdoor Sosa building at JVPD scheme.

Ashutosh Tod (15),suffered a fracture to the left hand and Malik Shaikh (15),who was riding the bike,suffered minor injuries on the limbs. They have been admitted to Cooper Hospital.

Police said when they reached Military Road,opposite Lotus Building in Juhu,a speeding Maruti Swift Dzire rammed them. The impact was such that Khan was thrown a few meters and hit the road head-first,while Shaikh was dragged along with the bike. Tod was hurt as he jumped off the bike.

The car driver sped away without informing police about the mishap.

Residents informed the police control room about the incident and rushed the trio to Cooper hospital,where Khan was declared dead before admission.

Juhu police have registered a case against the unidentified driver under section 279 (rash driving),337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others),338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) 304 (a) (causing death due to rash and negligence driving),134 (a) (b) Motor Vehicle Act.
