June began on a hot note with Colaba recording 35.5 ° C on Friday and Santacruz recording 34.5 °C .
Maximum temperatures all through May were around 33-34 degrees due to the westerly winds,which bring moisture and thus control temperatures but Thursday saw the months hottest day with Colaba recording 35.2 ° C and Santacruz recording 33.6 ° C.
On Friday,the island citys maximum temperature was around two degrees above normal while in the suburbs it was around a degree above normal. Minimum temperatures were 28.4 ° C and 28.6 °C in Colaba and Santacruz respectively.
The Met department,however,said the change was only a daily variation. The temperatures are slightly above normal. The change is marginal and not very significant. Its only a day to day fluctuation, said V K Rajeev,director IMD.
