A special court in the city has convicted a 21-year-old man for sexually abusing a minor boy. The accused has been sentenced to a seven-year prison term for the offence.
In 2015, the 17-year-old victim had come to Mumbai from his native town just 15 days before the incident to learn salon work from his maternal uncle. He stayed at the salon along with two other boys after work. According to the boy’s deposition before the court, he along with the accused was sleeping on the mezzanine floor of the salon on the day of the incident.
The victim said that he suddenly woke up and found the accused near him. The accused began sexually abusing him. The victim told the court that he had tried to scream but the accused threatened and silenced him by putting a razor on his neck. The accused then sodomised the terrified boy. The next morning, the victim informed another boy from his native town who also worked at the salon.
The two then informed the victim’s uncle who approached the LT Marg police.Prosecutor Usha Jadhav said that the special court had found the accused guilty under section 377 (unnatural sex) and section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
