Man arrested for threatening to upload MMS clip of ex-girlfriend

A 28-year-old man was arrested by the Dharavi police on Thursday for allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend of uploading an MMS clip,featuring them in compromising positions,on the Internet if she continued contacting him.

A 28-year-old man was arrested by the Dharavi police on Thursday for allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend of uploading an MMS clip,featuring them in compromising positions,on the Internet if she continued contacting him. The accused,Yakub Shaikh,was arrested from his house near leather market in Dharavi on Thursday afternoon.

“The victim,a 22-year-old girl who resides in a slum area near the Mahim Church,was in a relationship with the accused for the past eight years. Recently,she got to know that the accused had got engaged to another girl. The accused,when confronted by her,told her that he cannot marry her and that she should stop calling him,” said an officer from the Dharavi police station.

When the victim continued contacting the accused,he allegedly threatened her saying that would upload the MMS recordings.

“He also threatened her that he would throw acid on her if she tried contacting him. When the threats did not stop,the victim and her mother approached us and we registered a case,” the officer said.

Shaikh has been booked under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.
