THE Mumbra police Monday arrested a man for allegedly molesting his 10-year-old daughter and making her watch obscene films. This is the second case of its kind this month, with the first case being recorded in Wadala. The victim alleged she was subjected to obscene films for six months, said police.

Police said the accused is a 30-year-old man from Mumbra and works in a zari unit in Mumbai.

“The victim complained to her mother Sunday, that she was being sexually exploited by her father. The victim’s mother then along with some other women from the locality came to register a complaint,” said an officer with Mumbra police.

“The victim has alleged whenever she and the accused were alone in the house,he would play obscene videos on television and make her watch them. He would also touch her inappropriately. We have subjected the girl to medical tests to determine if she was raped,” said Prashant Bade inspector at Mumbra police.

The man was arrested and has been booked under the Indian Penal Code as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,2012. Police are interrogating him to find out how long he has been exploiting the victim, and whether he has similarly targeted other minors in his area.

On May 8,the Wadala police had arrested a 45-year-old building contractor for allegedly subjecting his teenage daughter to sexual exploitation for more than a year. The accused would allegedly touch her inappropriately, and once made her watch a pornographic film.
