Centre asks Maharashtra to deposit Rs 22 Lacs for deputation of RAF during Ramzan

In a government resolution issued on July 5, the home department has confirmed the funds will be released as per the rules laid by the state finance department this year.

The Centre has asked the state government to deposit Rs 22,31,856 towards deputation of personnel from Rapid Action Force (armed unit of Central Reserve Police Force) for duty during Ramzan.

In a government resolution issued on July 5, the home department has confirmed the funds will be released as per the rules laid by the state finance department this year.

According to the GR, the funds will go for deployment of personnel across the state for the period of Ramzan, from July 5 to the dusk of July 7, 2016.

The RAF is a anti-riot unit and can be deployed only under the orders of the ministry of home affairs. It is a reserved batallion kept only to be deployed in situations of tension or second-tier force, assisting the local units.
