COME NOVEMBER, at least 10 of the 84 fast trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Kalyan would halt at Diva station, officials from Central Railway said.
The final work for building two new platforms for the trains to halt at Diva station would be done by October, officials said. Earlier this year, commuters from Diva had staged a rail-roko to protest against constant delays and insufficient trains from Diva. The work of building two extra platforms is likely to be over by October, post which trains can halt at Diva, officials said.
“By October end, we are expecting completion of work. Diva station, on account of many reasons, faces huge rush on a regular basis. The fast train halt at Diva station will relax the crowd in slow trains and also decrease commute time for passengers. However, we will also plan segmentation of trains in such a way that the speed and overall operations of trains do not get delayed,” said A K Srivastava, AGM, CR.
