Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has some newfound support from unlikely quarters.

Former president of All India Youth Congress M S Bitta has come out in his support for his call severing all cultural exchanges and sporting activities with Pakistan after 26/11.

“I support Raj Thackeray on this front. No cultural activities or sports should be held with Pakistan until they bring the perpetrators to book. I do not support him on other issues, but on this one I am with him,” said Bitta addressing the press in Mumbai.

Days after the Mumbai terror attack, there has been a call from several quarters, including the MNS,to severe all cultural ties with Pakistan.

Bitta criticized the state and central governments for not protecting senior police officers or controlling terrorism. He also brought up the Afzal Guru issue.

Bitta said,”Why is the government not taking a decision on Afzal Guru? The verdict came two years ago. If Afzal had been hanged,Mumbai attacks would not have happened. We do not have stringent anti-terror laws. Is the government waiting for another hijacking or kidnapping when they can release Afzal?”

Bitta said the government should have taken a decision to attack Pakistan when the Mumbai attacks were on. The government should have targeted LET hideouts and gone to war.

Bitta suggested bringing in one year of military rule in the country to take decisions and solve problems, leaving all political parties out of governance. He even suggested that India take a leaf out of Israel’s book while dealing with terror.
