A four-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from her house at Kamraj Nagar in Ghatkopar (East) on Sunday night was found near a creek, less than 30 metres away from her house,on Monday morning. Medical tests of the child have revealed she had been raped.

“The girl’s father,Harish Talwalkar, had accompanied his friend to register a police complaint. When he did not come return by 11.30 pm,his wife went to his friend’s house to inquire. She had locked the door from outside, leaving the victim and her youngest son inside. When the victim’s mother came back at 12.30 am,she found the lock had been broken and her daughter was missing,” DCP (Zone 7) Sanjay Shintre said.

He added the victim’s mother tried looking for her in the area, but could not find her.

“Harish also came back home and tried searching for his daughter. When they could not find her they came to the Pant Nagar police station to register a missing persons complaint,” Shintre said.

At 10 am on Monday, residents saw the girl sitting near the creek next to her house, crying inconsolably.

“Medical tests have confirmed rape. We have registered a case under Section 376 (rape),363 (kidnapping) and 452 (house trespassing) of the IPC,” Shintre said.
