The sexual harassment committee of KEM hospital has ordered the transfer of a technician from the bio-chemistry laboratory to pathology after 12 women employees complained of sexual misconduct.
He confessed that he used to take pictures of women colleagues without asking them, said Dr A K Gwalani, acting dean at the hospital.
The complaint was filed more than two months ago with Dr Shubangi Parkar, who was the acting dean then.
Ashok Bhokare (57) had allegedly been clicking pictures of women technicians for a long time. However, they had only been warning him but when he started using innuendos, they decided to lodge a complaint against him.
Bhokare said he had been with the bio-chemistry department for the past four years and in the hospital for several years but there was no complaint against him previously.
According to Dr Suhasini Nagda, director of secondary healthcare services, the case was forwarded to the hospitals sexual harassment committee more than two months ago. Bhokare initially refuted the allegations but later allegedly confessed and accepted his transfer.
This is the second case of molestation reported from the citys hospitals in a month. In the first case,a student nurse in Nair hospital was allegedly molested in the hospital lift. The case was assigned to the sexual harassment committee and an FIR lodged against a patients relative.
