Kalnirnay dispute: Publisher files case of fraud against brother

An internal dispute between the Salgaonkar brothers of Kalnirnay group has now reached the Mumbai Police with elder brother Jairaj lodging a complaint of misappropriation and fraud amounting to Rs 1 crore against his younger brother Jayanand.

An internal dispute between the Salgaonkar brothers of Kalnirnay group has now reached the Mumbai Police with elder brother Jairaj lodging a complaint of misappropriation and fraud amounting to Rs 1 crore against his younger brother Jayanand.

Tthe family owns Sumangal Press in MIDC,Andheri and the case has been registered at the MIDC police station. Jairaj is the publisher & managing director of Kalnirnay.

According to the complaint,since 2005 till date, Jayanand misused his official position in the family owned press and used assets of the press at his own press in Mhape.

Jairaj also alleged that Jayanand used his private press to forge documents and misappropriate funds to the tune of Rs 1 crore from the family business.

“It’s a complicated case. We have asked for the documents and will be calling the other party. We have just registered the FIR and the case will need to be probed into in detail,” said senior inspector Suresh Hujband.

When contacted,Jairaj said he did not wish to comment. “This is a family dispute and we would like to settle this amicably. I do not wish to give any details in this matter.”

The Kalnirnay Group’s website claims that it has a consumer base of 1.4 crore for its regional almanacs. The group,which started printing calendars in 1973,is considered popular among the regional population for its community based calendars.
