Heavy rain continues in Mumbai

As thundershowers accompanied by heavy rain and lightning lashed the city for the second consecutive day Saturday evening, the weather bureau has predicted thunderstorms for the coming three days. While moderate rain is predicted on Sunday, Mumbai is likely to receive heavy rainfall in the coming week until Wednesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Colaba received 51.4 mm rainfall and Santacruz received 13.6 mm in a span of three hours from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm on Saturday. Skymet Weather has predicted that the intensity of rain is likely to increase in the city. “On and off light to moderate spells will be witnessed by Mumbaikars but one or two isolated heavy showers cannot be ruled out over the maximum city. The rain is likely to sustain for at least 48 hours,” reads the forecast.

According to the MCGM data, Vikhroli received 27 mm while Andheri received 16 mm of rainfall. No water-logging or tree fall incidents were reported in the city on Saturday.
