H1N1 raises its head again in Mumbai, 25-year-old woman dies

A 25-year-old woman died due to H1N1 viral infection at Kasturba hospital on Monday night. The death comes more than a month after the viral epidemic induced deaths came to an end across the city.

According to civic body’s executive health officer, Dr Padmaja Keskar, the lady was shifted to Kasturba a week before from Fortis Hospital. She was a resident of Mumbra. She succumbed to the air borne infection 9.30 pm at Kasturba hospital on Monday and the civic body received a report of her death on Tuesday.

Doctors treating her at the hospital said that she also had pneumonitis and was diagnosed H1N1 virus positive after she was admitted at Kasturba Hospital.

Following an outbreak of the disease, over a 1,000 cases have been reported in Mumbai so far this year along with over 40 deaths.
