The state government has decided to provide Rs 25,000 as compensation to families whose slums were gutted in the fire in Damunagar colony in Mumbai.

In a statement made in Assembly, Fadnavis said that going against the general norm of compensation of providing Rs 3,500 to per victim’s family, the government has decided to grant Rs 25,000 for each of the families.

The expenses of those injured will also be borne by the government. He added the government would ensure that families were provided shelter in the same place. A committee of state officials and the BMC have been told to work out a proposal within two months.
