Mumbai: Gangster wanted in more than 30 cases arrested

THE AMBOLI police arrested an alleged gangster Farheed Rehmat Khan alias Farheed Kalina from Jogeshwari in western suburban Mumbai Tuesday. Khan, who is wanted in over 30 cases, was arrested when he was planning to flee the city. Working on a tip-off, a team from the Amboli police station headed by police  inspector Daya Nayak arrested Khan while he was trying to escape.

“Khan is a part of the gang floated by his slain brother Idda Khan, who had been gunned down in an encounter by the Mumbai Crime Branch team in the past. Khan is wanted in over 30 cases pertaining to extortion and threat. We had sources based information and under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arun Chavan, the lead was worked upon and Khan was nabbed,” said a policeman. Sources say that Khan who is wanted in cases mostly registered at the Vakola police station would be handed over to them soon.
