Kandivali police on Friday busted a gang that allegedly used women to lure their victims before robbing them, and nabbed six persons including two 17-year-old girls after a 26-year-old man filed a complaint that he was robbed on Monday.

Police said the complainant,a manager with a private firm, told he was waylaid and robbed when he was heading for a guest house along with a girl he had picked up allegedly at the behest of a woman he had been in contact with,Muskan Pathan. Police said Pathan had been arrested for a similar offence in January.

The complainant told police that on Monday he had called up Pathan asking her to accompany her to a guest house at Aksa in Malad (West) but she told him she was busy and gave him the number of another girl.

He picked up the girl outside Kandivali railway station, and they were on their way to Aksa in an auto-rickshaw when she asked him to halt the rickshaw outside Raghuleela Mall in Kandivali (West) to meet a few friends,he told the police.

There,a gang of six including a woman got off a car, caught hold of the complainant and began beating him saying he had kidnapped the girl in an attempt to rape her, police said. The girl too played along and cried for help, said the police. Police said they took away Rs 10,000 from the complainant and fled.

Police traced the number from which the complainant had received a call, and learnt it was registered in the name of Yogesh of Nalasopara.

During questioning,Yogesh said he had also fallen victim to the girl and her gang but was too embarrassed to lodge a complaint. Failing to get any leads, police scrutinised call records to find the numbers she had made the most calls to.

“Through this number,we reached a house in Malad (East) owned by a woman,Parmar, who ran a sex racket from her house. We learnt from Parmar that Pathan and the other girl worked for her,as did two of the men who were arrested,” said Asst Inspector,Kandivali police station,R A Kshirsagar.

Police then raided the Nalasopara address of the girl and nabbed her. The other members of the gang,Ajay Parmar,Vijay Parmar,Noor Alam Mullah, and three minors including a girl have also been held for robbery and assault.

The cops are now searching for Pathan.
