Four Nepal men arrested for theft

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Friday arres­t­ed four Nepalese nationals for allegedly robbing a house in Prabhat Colony in Santacruz (East).

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Friday arres­t­ed four Nepalese nationals for allegedly robbing a house in Prabhat Colony in Santacruz (East). One of the arrested is the watchman of the bu­i­lding where the theft took pl­a­ce. The arrested have been identified as Vimal Shahi (25),Sonu Karki (32),Prem Thappa (32) and Mangal Shahi. “The four broke into the house and escaped with gold,diamonds and cash worth Rs 14.96 lakh. A case had been registered with the Vakola Police and we started the probe,” a Crime Branch officer said. “We started investigating the possible role of the watchman. On Friday,we received information that Vimal,the watchman and his accomplices would come to Bandra Terminus to board a train and escape to Nepal. A trap was laid and when they came to the spot,we nabbed them,” the officer said. Police said valuables worth Rs 3.25 lakh were recovered from their possession.
