The monsoon activity over Mumbai weakned considerably in the third week of July but India Meteorological Department officials say there is a good chance of revival.
According to a weather officer at IMD,a trough still exists between Kerala and Gujarat which is expected to bring rain to the Konkan-Goa stretch. However,Mumbai will only see moderate rain with chances of isolated heavy showers at different regions. The winds at 30 km per hour are moderate, the officer said. On Sunday Colaba saw just 11.7 mm rainfall while Santacruz recorded 19.6 mm. According to a 10-day weather forecast by private weather forecaster Foreca India ,the city will see warm weather at least till Tuesday. The maximum temperature may exceed 30° Celsius. On Thursday,however,the temeprature may drop to 28°C as per Foreca. The state has received 158.7 mm rainfall so far,about 61 mm less that the expected normal of 220 mm.
