Five injured in clash at Arthur Road Jail

The police said Ansari was hurt on the head and had a self-inflicted injury to his wrist.

A brawl broke out between five undertrials at Arthur Road Jail on Monday resulting in all of them being hospitalised.

The police said at 8.45 am, Muddassar Ismail Ansari (30), arrested for robbery; Sarvar Maksud Khan (32), arrested for robberies, and Suleman Mehmood Patel, arrested for possessing illegal firearms by the Maharashtra ATS, assaulted prisoners Vishal Chandrashekar Amkar (31) and Murgan Mani Nadar (52). Nadar, who is behind bars for a theft case, sustained injuries on the chest and face while Amkar, who is facing trial for a murder in Wadala, was injured on both cheeks, chest and left thigh. The police said Ansari was hurt on the head and had a self-inflicted injury to his wrist.
