A delay in the movement of fire brigade vehicles, especially after reaching the entrance of Mont Blanc building, slowed down rescue operations, alleged fire officials and residents. “The narrow slope approach of the building had vehicles parked on both sides of the street and bringing in our large snorkels proved a problem,” said deputy chief fire officer P S Rahangdale.

Raghu Patel,a resident of a neighbouring building, claimed,“There was a party at Shalimar hotel and there were cars parked on both sides of the road leading up to Mont Blanc.” Siddharth Pange, front office manager at Shalimar Hotel refuted the allegations. He said,“There was no party yesterday. But guests had come for dinner. In fact, the hotel staff helped the fire brigade in clearing the parked vehicles.”
