FIR filed against writer,director of comedy film

The Bandra police registered an FIR against the producer,director and writer of the recently released Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum for allegedly outraging sentiments of the Christian community.

The Bandra police registered an FIR against the producer,director and writer of the recently released Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum for allegedly outraging sentiments of the Christian community. The offence was registered by the police after complaints from Catholic groups about certain scenes in the film.

According to the police,Joseph Dias,a Bandra resident and general secretary of the Catholic Secular Forum,lodged the complaint on behalf of various Christian groups. The accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 295A for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings and Section 34 for common intent.

Pratap Dighavkar,DCP (Zone 9),said no specific names have been mentioned in the FIR and that investigations were on.

“We are investigating the case and only after we ascertain whether the film’s producer,director and writer are guilty will we arrest them,” said Abhay Shastri,Senior Police Inspector of Bandra police station.

Tanuj Garg,CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures,said: “We have not received any official communication from either the said Catholic group or the police.”

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum,which was released on July 27,is directed and written by Sachin Yardi and produced by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor.
