The Bombay High Court Thursday stayed the collection of toll at all entry points to Kolhapur by Ideal Road Builders (IRB). The court observed that IRB, appointed to carry out the Integrated Road Development Project, had not completed the work and that the state government had not prepared a capital outlay of the project.
The petitioners had opposed toll collection contending that provisional certificate granted to IRB for the project was bad in law.
The ruling by a division bench of Justices A S Oka and M S Sonak comes after protests against toll collection and vandalism of toll booths in the city last month.
