On a bowling friendly wicket,Dadar Union paid the price of batting first as they were bowled out for 131 off 39.1 overs against Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy in the two-day quarterfinals of the Santosh Kumar Ghosh trophy under-16 cricket selection tournament,at Azad Maidan here on Tuesday. The main destroyer was Siddharth Ghule,who was the chief architect of their being dismissed for a meagre total. Siddharth returned with figures of seven for 28 off 16 overs. However,Dadar Union hit back and have captured five for 85 of 36 overs to keep their tie in balance.Earlier,too,it was fancied New Hind,who suffered at Ghules hands,as apart from his unbeaten knock of 50,he also captured five for 81 to put New Hind out of the competition. Mumbai Police were in a lot of trouble as they lost top five batsmen with just 33 runs on the board against Lord Northbrook,but it was the sensible batting of Aneesh Chaudhary (66) and the lower order batsman Shoeb Khan (63 9×4),which gave some respectability to their final score of 195. Meet Belose and Rishaqbh Ladge shared the major spoils with three wickets apiece.
