Dadar flyover accident: Biker dies, pillion rider injured

The incident took place around 11.45 pm when the two persons were headed southwards.

A biker died and his pillion rider sustained injuries when a state transport (ST) bus hit them and a few other vehicles on the Dadar (TT) flyover late Saturday night.

The incident took place around 11.45 pm when the two persons were headed southwards. Police said since it was drizzling a bit, the road was wet and the bike slipped. The bus coming from behind hit the bike. Balasahed Kakad, senior inspector at Matunga police station, said the bus driver was not able to apply brakes on time and avoid hitting the bike. The bus then ended up hitting some other vehicles before it finally came to a halt.

While Afzal Hussain Shaikh, 45, who was riding the bike died, pillion rider Juber Shaikh sustained injuries. A few passengers in the bus sustained minor injuries.
The police said they would record statements of the injured to ascertain the exact sequence of events.

The Matunga police have arrested the bus driver, Suresh Shinde.
