The police are now planning to approach the parents of the accused Vikram Dravid (37) to record their statements.

The victim’s husband,an engineer, had approached the Nineth Metropolitan Court in Bandra in March this year and filed an adultery case against Dravid and his wife, alleging that the two were in a relationship. Police said the victim has claimed that she paid for Dravid’s rent during his stay in Pune in 2008. The victim has also allegedly told the police that she knew Dravid since 2001. In her statement, the woman revealed that Dravid’s father is a music teacher and she met him in the US in 2001 while wanting to learn music.

The victim had approached the Colaba police on Monday and alleged that she had been raped in Dravid’s family house in Colaba in 2008,and several times after that. The police had registered a case and arrested Dravid, who has been remanded in police custody till August 10. The woman has also accused Dravid of duping her.

On Wednesday, officials of the US Consulate visited the Colaba police station as both the accused and the complainant are US nationals. The consulate officials met police officers and have asked for details of the case. Dravid, however, has pleaded innocence and claimed that the act was not rape.
