THE MUMBAI Police, who are investigating the Bhupendra Vira murder case, maintained before the court Monday that former corporator Razzak Khan had planned the murder. Police suspect that Vira, a Vakola resident, was murdered for filing RTI applications against the alleged illegal properties owned by Khan.

Watch what else is making news:

While Amjad — Khan’s son who has also been arrested — had confessed to firing the rounds on Vira that led to his death. He had also told the police that his father was unaware about the entire conspiracy and it was Amjad’s decision to eliminate Vira. The father-son duo, who were produced before the court, were remanded in police custody for another four days.

Seeking his custody, the public prosecutor said it was Khan who had hatched the conspiracy and had not been cooperating with the probe.

The prosecutor further submitted to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate that a few others involved in the murder were still on the run. The police stated that they needed to interrogate the father-son duo to get leads on other persons possibly involved in the murder.
